Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor stands accused of performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Grave Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors outline the 45 charges he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
