Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Regional Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a series of missiles," it added.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
