Salah Issues Statement to Squad, Reveals Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has shared that Mohamed Salah apologised to the group of players following the uproar from his recent interview.
What Happened
Salah was left out from a key Champions League match subsequent to criticising the club and claiming his relationship with manager had deteriorated.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”
The head coach has chosen not to reveal on whether he was apologised to from the 33-year-old forward.
Team Unity
Jones insisted that the squad's reaction stayed normal. “He was the exact same Mo, his demeanour was positive and we all treated him normally,” the midfielder explained.
Jones also implied that a competitor wanting to play is preferable. “I understand there are different methods you can handle situations,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just sit out, then I think that’s concerning.”
Positive Results
The team's performance have remained strong in the period after the initial controversy. Jones believes the forward's comments were not intended to harm the team.
“If passion has boiled over, it’s always been from a good place,” the midfielder stated. “It's behind us and we’re gelling well as a team, performing and securing victories.”
