Sweden Team Announcement: Isak Selected While Viktor Gyokeres Excluded
The striker joined the Gunners from Sporting in July
Arsenal forward the Swedish attacker has been omitted from Graham Potter's maiden Sweden squad, whereas Reds striker Alexander Isak received a place
Gyokeres is scheduled to undergo further assessments in the coming days following fears he sustained a muscle problem during the Gunners's English top flight victory at the Clarets last weekend
The 27-year-old was absent from the Gunners' Champions League win versus the Czech side on Tuesday
Alexander Isak Returns
Isak, absent from action from late October owing to muscle issues, made the squad to play in World Cup qualifying games versus Switzerland (November 15th) plus Slovenia (November 18th)
Additional England-based Call-ups
- Spurs midfielder the young talent, currently rehabilitating from a head injury
- Magpies wide player the Swedish international
These players feature in Potter's Premier League contingent selected by former Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham manager Graham Potter
The New Manager's Appointment
Potter was appointed the Swedish federation initially for an interim period in late October, under a month after his departure from the Hammers
Previous boss Jon Dahl Tomasson lost his job after the national team's defeat to the Kosovan team in mid-October, a result that ended straight qualification in their World Cup group out of reach
Current Position
The Swedish team find themselves last place of Group B having just one point in their opening four games
Should they fail to claim the runner-up spot, they could still participate in the qualification playoffs because of their results in the latest UEFA competition
